Local sensation Amanda Tan booked her place in Singapore’s marque golf tournament to compete against the world’s best female golfers on 2-5 March following a thrilling three-way play-off against Sarah Tan and Callista Chen at the HSBC Women’s Champions National Qualifying Tournament at Sentosa Golf Club.

With her brother caddying for her, 17-year old Amanda Tan carded a second round score of 76 to go with her round one score of 77, to force the play-off with 2 other Singaporean girls who both shot 76 and 77 in rounds one and two respectively.

The pressure of the play-off soon showed, with Callista Chen driving her first two tee-shots out of bounds, leaving the two Tan girls to fight it out on the 18th hole. Both Amanda Tan and Sarah Tan ended up in the bunkers around the green, but a superlative chip out, which saw her ball glance off the pin, was the difference between the two, as Amanda holed out for par and while Sarah finished with a bogey.
