THE LKY MUSICAL PAYS A HUMBLE TRIBUTE TO MR LEE KWAN YEW
In memory of the late founding Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kwan Yew, The LKY Musical is a humble tribute to Mr. Lee.
The world premiere of The LKY Musical will be staged at MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands on 24 July 2015 and is expected to continue through the Jubilee celebrations of the National Day weekend.
Set against the backdrop of the Singapore story, the musical is an adaptation and a celebration of Mr. Lee’s extraordinary life, vision and leadership. With Adrian Pang taking on the titular role of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and Sharon Au as Mrs. Lee Kuan Yew, the musical will definitely capture the very essence of their lives.
“This is going to be Singapore’s own timeless love story,” said Sharon.
The LKY Musical follows the life of Mr. Lee Kwan Yew from his early days at Raffles College to the founding of independent Singapore. This exciting project is the work of an international team of artists. Music by Singapore’s iconic musician and composer Dick Lee; a compelling story based on the work of internationally renowned Singaporean writer, Meira Chand; directed by veteran London director Steven Dexter; lyrics by Olivier-award winning lyricist Stephen Clark; and script by Tony Petito.
