A GALLERY ON THE WRIST : SWATCH REVEALS ITS LOVE AFFAIR WITH ART AT LA BIENNALE ARTE 2015
Recently, at the Teatro Piccolo Arsenale in Venice, Italy, Swatch unveiled its multi-faceted presence at la Biennale Arte 2015. Swatch Creative Director Carlo Giordanetti welcomed guests from around the world with the fascinating story of the Swiss brand’s love affair with art.
Joining the numerous artists who have worked with Swatch and therefore contributed work to the world’s largest gallery on the wrist are the ubiquitous German contemporary artists EVA & ADELE and the extraordinary Portuguese installation artist, Joana Vasconcelos, who were present in Venice for the unveiling.
Carlo Giordanetti also introduced four of more than 150 artists who have lived and worked at The Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai and contribute their stunning work to the Swatch Presence at la Biennale Arte 2015: Alec von Bargen, Yan Wang Preston, Luca Bray and Chiara Luzzana.
Presented also was the Swatch Art Special created by EVA & ADELE in collaboration with Swatch, called FUTURING BY EVA & ADELE. This gold-coloured, glittery dial backgrounds three global messages from the artists, presented in bright pink lettering: WORLD COMMUNICATIVE, GLOBAL PLASTIC, FUTURING, and is enhanced by transparent pink plastic strap with a gold-coloured print pattern.
FLUTTERING BY EVA & ADELE is available in a limited numbered edition of 585 pieces, in shiny box of pink and gold, with the limited edition number appearing both on the back of the watch and inside the Special Packaging. An unlimited but otherwise identical edition will be available from early June. Priced at S$167
The Swatch presence at la Biennale Arte 2015 – Swatch Faces 2015 – will be an exhibition in progress. SWATCH FACES 2015 – PAVILION AT ARSENALE will change during the course of la Biennale Arte: new Swatch Art Specials will be presented, new artists from The Swatch Art Peace Hotel will join.
