With the express lunch at Zafferano, there is one more thing to look forward to when Monday rolls by
Hands-up if you look forward to Mondays. We sure don’t, especially on a Sunday where we are lazing on the sofa hoping that time doesn’t pass by so quickly. Well, there’s something to look forward to now on Mondays, especially if you are working in the busy CBD area.
Zafferano has launched its new express lunch menu that is available exclusively on Mondays for just S$19++. For the uninitiated, Zafferano is located on level 43 at Ocean Financial Tower and this means that you get sweeping views of the city as you dine on delicious Italian cuisine.
The lunch is also an opportunity to sample the offerings that the restaurant has to offer for a pocket-friendly price. On the menu, a main course costs anywhere from S$28 to a more staggering S$68–not a price that you won’t bat an eyelid at. Hence, this is a great chance to try what Zafferano can whip up.
Here are the mechanics for this express lunch special that is only available on Mondays. There’s only one dish on the menu for lunch. Yes that’s right, just one, so if you are the type who can’t make up your mind on what to eat, you won’t need to rack your brains over what to choose; there’s only one choice.
And how do you know what’s available for the day? The restaurant will release this information via social media before lunch so you can decide if the menu is something that sits well with you before you go.

Oh and we forgot to mention: Though it is a one-dish-only menu, there is a free flow of delicious house-made bread.
So what would you see on the menu? We had the chance to preview some of the dishes that would likely be on this menu and here are the offerings that we got to sample.
Pappa al Pomodoro is a thick Tuscan bread soup typically prepared with fresh tomatoes. Zafferano’s version has crispy bacon and a poached egg added to it. It is recommended that you mix everything together before partaking. The result is a creamy texture that is delicious, with just enough tomato flavour without being too overpowering. The crispy bacon added gives the dish some texture and much needed crunch, and it’s a dish that is warm and hearty.
With roman sheep cheese and pepper, this is one dish that is for the cheese lovers. Yet non-cheese fanatics need not be too cheesed off as despite sheep cheese generally having a stronger flavour, it was well-balanced in the Rigatoni Cacio and Pepe. The portion is sized just right so despite it being a dish on the heavier side, you don’t fill too full and won’t be susceptible to food coma.
The third dish we were given to try was the Gnocchi Ragout alla Bolognese, a hearty dish of house-made Italian potato dumplings. Definitely one dish that can fill you up if you are feeling a wee bit hungry for the day.
For just S$19++ you get a delicious meal and great views, we say that it’s a spot worth revisiting on Mondays for a working lunch or if you need a perk me up to combat the Monday blues.
