Forget David Copperfield and Criss Angel
The Illusionists will dazzle with their repertoire of original magic. Imagine a train appearing from thin air! Or a school of goldfish materializing in a fish tank in front of you! The motley crew of magicians have made their mark in Broadway and are here to perform on 6 May 2016 at Mastercard Theatres Marina Bay Sands. Taking cues from great magicians in the past like Harry Houdini, the seven talented illusionists will impress with their hilarious magic tricks, death-defying stunts and acts of breathtaking wonder. The Illusionists has shattered box office records worldwide and thrilled audiences of all ages with their unbelievable array of talents.
The Illusionists – Live from Broadway™ is produced by Simon Painter, Tim Lawson and MagicSpace Entertainment. The brainchild of Simon Painter, the show’s creative team also includes executive producer Tim Lawson, director Neil Dorward and creative director Jim Millan.
The Illusionists are not your typical smoke-and-mirrors crew
It was a spectacular evening at Marina Bay Sands as Singaporean friends and families came together to experience the most thrilling magical acts to emerge from Broadway. The Illusionists are not your typical smoke-and-mirrors crew. They perform tricks so unfathomable, it might leave you wondering about the possibilities of unseen forces at work.
The seven stars, each a master in their own field, are:
The stunningly elegant Amelie Van Tass boggles the mind of everyone in the room with her eerily accurate clairvoyance. Perched on a swing with her partner Thommy Ten borrowing random objects from the audience, she guesses everything correctly – from keys, driver’s license, to the serial number of a dollar note. The seductive clairvoyant with her smoky and coy demeanour, makes you wonder what else in the room she hasn’t picked up on.
For fans of silent slapstick comedy reminiscent of Charlie Chaplin, ‘The Eccentric’ Charlie Frye and his wife Sherry are sure to entertain with their juggling acrobatics. Forget all the jugglers you’ve seen on the streets or on TV – Charlie Frye makes everything else looks like child’s play with his signature act of juggling five glass bottles while fighting to keep his balance on a board with a glass bottle rolling beneath. Juggling suddenly isn’t all that boring amidst feats of teleportation and clairvoyancy. Yes, I mentioned teleportation, but you have to see for yourself!
Perhaps the most captivating aspect of The Illusionists are their unique methods of engaging with the audience. From inviting the clueless up to stage with the tossing of Angry Bird plushies to having everyone perform their own magic trick with postcards sealed inside an envelope in everyone’s seats, the Illusionists sure know how to make their audience get onto the edge of their seats.
Expect more mindblowing illusions like the manifestation of an entire train on stage, a heartstopping underwater prison escape and a bifurcation trick unlike any other. The Illusionists are leaving on the 15th of May, so hurry up and book your tickets before they make their disappearing act!
